Welcome to the Townsend River Breeze Inn
The former Headrick’s River Breeze Motel has been family owned & operated since 1972. Catherine Headrick built the original 6 room motel across from the Little River in the then rural and former logging Town of Townsend, TN. She later added another 4 rooms and a pool. In 1999, Daniel Headrick extended the motel and built another 13 rooms with terraces and balconies on the hill above the existing building and also added a second pool. Headrick’s offered clean, affordable and comfortable rooms with true Southern Hospitality.
In late July 2018, the property was acquired by David Girard and Hugh Schmidt. The name of the motel was changed to Townsend River Breeze Inn. Both David and Hugh have a long relationship with Townsend and have known the Headrick family for many years. They are professionals in the tourism industry and are dedicated to keeping the “Southern Hospitality“ alive!
In the fall of 2018 extensive renovations to the existing buildings will begin. Hardwood flooring and new fixtures will be installed in the guest rooms. New beds, upgraded mattresses and linens will be added along with in-room coffee makers, new amenities and Hi-Speed WiFi for an even better guest experience.
The Inn has 23 rooms including Queen, King, and Double Queen occupancy. Each room is well-appointed with a refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, and complimentary WiFi. Relax in one of our comfortable rocking chairs in front of your room and take in the magnificent view of the mountains to enhance your stay in the Smokies.
For larger groups, we offer a 3 bedroom home that can accommodate up to 12 people comfortably.
The Townsend River Breeze Inn boasts two sparkling pools where you can cool down and relax on a warm summer day. There is plenty of open space on the grounds to sit and relax or cookout on one of our outdoor grills. The River Breeze is located directly adjacent to the Historical Townsend Trail where you can walk or bike through town and along the Little River. There are plenty of places to eat at nearby restaurants and the little River offers young and old alike the opportunity to spend the day relaxing on a tubing trip tailored to your needs and skill level. We are conveniently located less than 1.5 miles away from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Entrance and the Gateway to Cades Cove, which is one of the biggest attractions in the park.
